meijilynn28@sbcglobal.netHello to whomever is taking their time to read this!
I love anything to do with Japan. I had the privilege of taking two years of Nihongo at a university even though I was high school. Needless to say, the language itself is workable and fun (totemo tanoshii da ne!), but the thirty kanji a chapter was a killer. I have somewhat of a freakish obsession with anime and manga. I enjoy writing fan fiction, playing the piano, and playing video games on my PS2, N64, GameCube, Atari, and Sega Genesis even though I barely have time to write, let alone play games. And I am a huge White Sox baseball fan. Football's okay (Bears fan, obviously), but I love the Sox.
I enjoy most all types of music except rap. My favorite kind of music would have to be Japanese pop/rock. I also love listening to Loreena McKennitt; celtic music rocks. A few of my favorite groups/singers (besides straight-out songs from anime) are 3 Doors Down, Cat Stevens, Daft Punk, DDR, Ayumi Hamasaki, Maaya Sakamoto, Nobou Uematsu, Utada Hikaru, and Akeboshi. I also like soundtrack CDs for my musicals, some Christian music, oldies (preferably from the 60's), and classical music appeals to me as well.
Some of the anime/manga that I like are Rurouni Kenshin, Aishiteruze Baby, Gundam Wing, Gundam Seed, Gundam Seed Destiny, Fruits Basket, Vampire Knight, Imadoki!, More Starlight in Your Heart, Naruto (and Shippuden), Princess Tutu, Detective Conan, Escaflowne, Gakuen Alice, Ayatsuri Sakon, Death Note, Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni (and Kai), Ultimate Muscle, Ouran High School Host Club, Ghost Hunt, Yuu Yuu Hakusho, Trigun, Dragon Ball Z, Scrapped Princess, Hikaru no Go, D. N. Angel, Yu-Gi-Oh!, and Digimon (first season; second season was all right, but after that it went downhill in my opinion). I'm looking into Evangelion. I also love most of Miyazaki's movies, and Grave of the Fireflies, too. Want a depressing movie? Watch that one.
I enjoy playing video games on my PS2, Nintendo 64, Sega Genesis, Atari, and Nintendo Game Cube even though I barely have time to write, let alone play games. I'm a huge Final Fantasy, Zelda, Fire Emblem, Harvest Moon, and Castlevania fan. DDR rocks, too (long live heavy mode).
I actually have a life outside the digital world. When I'm not on the internet, watching anime, studying to get my English degree, or reading manga, I'm teaching martial arts, learning Japanese, working at an oh-so-fun supermarket to get through college, playing the piano, and watching musicals and professional baseball.
Classical literature will always be my favorite type of book. Les Miserables really tops my list, which is why I love the musical so much. I went to a Les Mis concert a while back. It was very well done, and worth the money (even though I won't be getting fast food any time soon...). I also like the Lord of the Rings series, 1984, The Picture of Dorian Gray, Lord of the Flies, The Princess Bride, The Scarlet Letter, just about anything Shakespeare, Greek mythology, etc.
(Toshiori wa handobaggu te watashi o uchimashita. Sore ni, toshiori ni ashi o kerare nagara, kaidan kara ochichattan deshita. Sono toki ni, doa ni atattan deshita. Itai dayo.)
